All the parts needed to change an instrument to the Oscar Schmidt 21 chord system.

The conversion is not recommended for the model A, because the entire length of the top strings will be covered. The 37 string version of the model A would definitely be incompatible. The 8 1/4" vibrating length of the 36C string on the model B is the standard for where this kit can be compatible. The model A is best set aside and replaced by a newer instrument that either includes 21 chords or is a model B and includes the longer top strings.
No instructions are included. We sell this kit only to those who need no support from us or who would be willing to pay additional for consulting at our discretion. All these parts are imperfect, and we usually deal with that when installing the kit in our shop. There is no quality assurance, "some assembly required". A 21 chord conversion is not a project for the uninitiated. This item is provided here for the convenience of those with some experience or for the brave. It's not that it is rocket science, but all sorts of troubleshooting is required to complete a first class result given the rough parts provided.
We sell an enhanced version that is all checked out and which includes an enhanced chord cover and custom light spring set.
As-is kit - 20% off list at $95.00
Quality controlled kit (no installation support) - $117.90 (full list)
Enhanced kit (no support) - $117.90 + $11.40 for chord cover enhancement + $10 for custom springs ($139.30)
"Quality control" indicates that the kit will be opened, and every part will be inspected, repaired, replaced as necessary. The parts would be guaranteed as first quality within the limits of what should be expected from factory felting. The parts would be the same as we would consider acceptable for installation in the shop. It is possible that the felting would be completely redone on occasion, but no commitment to that level of rework is expressed or implied or assured for a repeat order. Hand felting is usually a $100 premium. Part of the inspection will include checking the felting for string alignment using a template. Whatever you get should drop right in, if the end holders are mounted appropriately.
The "hand felted" version includes the enhancements plus every bar redone with luthier grade, medium firm, natural white felt.
Note that the buttons are embossed with standard chord names. An all blank set can be substituted and can be labeled for an additional $10.
